I am a working woman who happens to have a husband and three kids – that makes me a wife and mother, but doesn’t unmake me from being a working woman like you or like many of the fabulous women you know.
I believe safe is boring.
I believe taking risks is scary.
I believe that doing something even when you’re scared takes buckets of faith but is SOOOOO worth it.
I know what it’s like to come up through corporate America. I’ve been a single working woman, a wife with a career, a young mother — first of one baby, then more — with a corporate job, and a working mom of school-aged children. I know what it’s like to want the most out of my life, to work hard for it, to achieve it, and then to wonder if this is what it will be like for the next 20, 30, 40 years. I know what it’s like to feel disconnected from goals I once thought so clear, to feel stuck in my job, blocked from the top floor, not even sure I even wanted to get there anymore.
After doing some hard work to clarify my goals in conjunction with my values, I came to realize that I liked the money I was making, I just didn’t like what I was doing to make money.
I left a 20-year, successful career in corporate America to live out the conversation that exists somewhere between Leaning In and Not Having it All: the conversation about PIE. My life is a pie, carefully made with the finest ingredients, baked to perfection, and sliced by the choices I make. Sometimes the portion sizes change and I lose some of one piece to gain more of another, but that makes every slice just right for me.
Now I get the pleasure of using my experiences in corporate America, my successes and lessons learned, and my gifts and talents to invest in the lives of others through speaking engagements, workshops, and one-on-one executive coaching. I help other women leaders discover the greatness of who they are and help clarify how they can use their innate talents and gifts to move barriers and achieve their next levels of success.
My life is a PIE and so is yours. You make choices every day based on your values and priorities. You aim to be happy, to live in joy, to be deliciously satisfied in the work that you do and the life you lead. Let’s talk about your PIE and how you slice it.
